Recycled Rice Bag Pots
Our new funky dandy pots not only look cool but have an ethical story to tell. They all start life as rice and grain bags in Indonesia. The bags come in a huge variety of wonderful colours and can be seen on the back of trucks in Asia, piled high in pinks, reds, greens, turquoises, etc. The sacks are rescued before being sent to landfill sites and then cleverly made into pots by skilled local folk working as part of a fair trade project in Indonesia.
Due to their hardworking former life the material is thick, waterproof and hardy - absolutely perfect for housing herbs and other windowsill friendly plants and flowers.
These brightly coloured pots can also be used for all manner of other things around the house; storage of washing-up utensils, crafty bits, bottles and containers. We've used one in the bathroom to store our growing collection of shells!
We love the different designs that come from the recycled rice bags, they have a very bold and retro feel about them.
Each one is handmade and individual and as such the pattern differs each time.
